Journal #1-My Favorite Writing

When looking for an article that really stood out to me I looked at everything from video game articles to editorials about some of my favorite cars. Then I saw the cover of Entertainment Weekly. It had Heath Ledger on the cover and it was probably the last time he would ever grace the cover of a magazine. The reason I say that is because he died tragically on Jan 22nd of this year. So I picked up the magazine and gave it a read. I immediately became emotionally attached to the main article about Mr. Ledger since he was a very talented actor and is starring as the joker in the upcoming blockbuster The Dark Knight. The article was so captivating because it really made his death more real. It is hard to deal with death. When someone close to you dies it is draining and heartrending experience. When celebrities pass away it can also be emotionally draining depending on your connection to the actor. The article was written by Josh Rottenberg was very well put together. The title Fallen Star seemed very fitting due to the circumstances. He did an extraordinary job of telling the audience who Heath Ledger was and why it  is such an immense loss to the film industry. This is something that I highly recommend reading especially if you are a fan of Heath Ledger.

How about citing an example from the article of a phrase/sentence that particularly struck you as an example of good writing? It's always a good idea to back up your statements with specifics.
